Privacy Policy

What we collect

Capital Tracker stores only the data you enter: your email address, a securely hashed password, and the financial records you create (account names, balance entries, income entries, holdings, and exchange-rate overrides). We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or any data beyond what the app needs to function.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to compute and display your personal capital dashboard. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties. Exchange rates are fetched from frankfurter.app (a public ECB mirror) — no personal data is sent to that service.

Data storage

All data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on a private k3s cluster. Backups are encrypted at rest. The cluster is not accessible to the public internet except through the application itself.

Exporting your data

You can export your capital snapshots and time-series data at any time from the dashboard using the CSV export buttons. A full account-level export is available on the Account Settings page.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Account Settings page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — all your records are removed from the database and cannot be recovered.

Product analytics

Product analytics (via PostHog) run only after you explicitly allow them — nothing is stored before you answer the consent banner, and choosing "Continue without" stores no analytics data at all. Events never include your balances, account names, transactions, or any other financial data. Browsers that send a Do-Not-Track signal are not tracked even if you allow analytics. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Product analytics or by clearing the choice in your browser; revoking also deletes the analytics data already stored on your device.

Cookies and sessions

We use a single HTTP-only session cookie to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies are set.
